What is Business Brokerage?

Business brokerage is the service of putting together sellers and buyers of businesses to achieve a successful transfer. Sometimes business brokerage is known by other names such as mergers and acquisitions, or business intermediaries.

Improve Your Chances of Success

The purchase of an existing business allows you to start with an immediate cash flow, established customer base, and often established and knowledgeable employees, as well as a recognized product. You take over what exists and then work hard to improve it.

Confidentiality

It is extremely important that the prospective sale of an ongoing business be kept confidential. Generally, premature disclosure will only damage the business which is disadvantageous to both the seller and the buyer. All inquiries will be held in strict confidence and any prospective buyer would be required to sign an agreement maintaining confidentiality.

Financing

We can assist in directing you to financing sources. Typically, some owner financing by the seller would be required to make a deal work because of the reluctance of banks to loan too heavily on existing businesses.

Business Evaluations

Having a properly documented business valuation is the most essential tool to successfully sell or buy a business. It is essential that the seller has a professional evaluation by an independent third party of the market value of the business.

It is critical that this valuation be based upon real historic data and not projections for the future. A purchaser should only pay for what exists and not what might be. What the purchaser can do with the business in the future is up to the purchaser and dependent upon the purchaser’s effort. This is not something that the purchaser should have to pay for in advance.
